The Longford Industrial Line Controller is a customized computer-based controller for use on Longford Intelligent Fulfillment Systems. The Longford Industrial Line Controller uses a distributed processing control system which provides our customers with a degree of versatility and control unmatched in the industry allowing for system monitoring, selective feeding, error handling, and reporting.
The Longford Industrial Line Controller consists of multiple layers of control. The top layer is a system controller based on standard PC hardware that controls all the high level functions such as overall process control, product tracking, real time display of system status and peripheral devices, and the operator interface. The next layer of control is provided by a series of single board micro-controllers which help control the individual components of the system such as the conveyor, feeders, scanners etc. The keyboard and monitor are mounted for easy access by the operator, but depending on requirements the system controller itself can be embedded within the conveyor, mounted in a standard rack, or placed on a desk.
The Longford Industrial Controller can generate and store a variety of reports that can be tailored to suit each customer's specific requirements. These reports can be used for overall performance monitoring as well as audit trails (eg. to track each individual item or group of items). Files can be transferred automatically to a network server, viewed locally, or be copied to a disc for review.
The Longford Industrial Controller is designed to control and monitor a variety of devices such as:
- Multiple Longford Feeders (up to 60)
- Flighted Conveyor Systems
- Verification devices such as Bar Code Scanners, Mag Stripe Readers or Vision Systems
- Glue or Taping Systems
- Shrink or Flow Wrappers, Cartoners, Inserters
- Printers and Labellers
- Stackers and Batch Control Systems
- Inline Rejects
- Pick to Light Systems
- Closed Loop Audit Control Systems
